Discover Podlasie, a region in north-eastern Poland, often called its ‘Green Lungs’.
It is probably the last piece of land in Europe where the environment is not contaminated by man's activity. Several national parks are located here, such as Białowieski, Wigierski, Biebrzański, and Narwiański as wall as landscape parks, like Suwalski, Knyszyński and Łomżyński.
The region’s vast primeval forests and natural riverbeds are inhabited by many rare, wild species that cannot be found anywhere else in Europe. It is also the only place where the European bison, king of the primeval forest, roams free in its natural environment. The primeval forest is also home to a few hundred species of birds, including the black stork, crane, and European eagle. Meandering waters of Biebrza and Narew Rivers are a habitat comparable to the Danube River delta. It is probably the best place for wildlife observation in Poland.
In Podlasie every trip to the countryside is a good opportunity to learn about the region’s cultural, religious and ethnic diversity, so typical for border areas. Poles, Belarusians, Ukrainians and Tartars
have been living here in a peaceful symbiosis for ages. Exploring the area you will come across small Catholic or Orthodox wooden churches, as well as Muslim mosques. You can also have a look at an old, inactive synagogue.
If you are fond of Orthodox music we will take you to Hajnówka where you can listen to it live at the annual International Festival of Orthodox Church Music. Hajnówka is also a good place to get to know Polish and Belarusian folklore. We also offer a choice of ethnographic trips in the region, to visit local manufacturers of earthenware, loom fabrics (famous double-warped Janów fabrics) and metal craftwork.
We offer a variety of stays which differ in length and programme, in places of your choice. It might be a short weekend trip (2-3 days) as well as a week-long or fortnight trip. The stays include attractions such as rides through the forest in a horse-pulled carriage or sledge (depending on the season), nature walks with wildlife watching (Photo-safari), short canoeing trips or boat excursions down Narew and Biebrza Rivers.
We encourage everybody to visit and get to know the County of Białystok. It is a convenient stop on the way to Białowieża or when following the Tartar Trail. The local Landscape Parks invite visitors to enjoy footpaths and canoe trails. We also organize coach trips to some well-known places in Poland like Warsaw, Kraków, Lublin, and many more. These trips are especially designed for schools and corporate groups.
We also arrange longer excursions to Russia, Belarus and Lithuania. Among the major attractions are canoe trips down the Niemen River. Lithuania’s famous spa resort Druskininkai offers a stay in one of its beauty and treatment centres and sanatoriums.
Schoolchildren and college students will benefit from an excursion following the footsteps of famous writers Adam Mickiewicz and Eliza Orzeszkowa. They will have an opportunity to visit Grodno, Vilnius and Nowogródek, and to see their reflection on the surface of the Świteź Lake, and, if they are lucky, encounter the fairytale nymph Świtezianka.
We also offer:
- Arrangement of visas to Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, etc.
- Travel Insurance by Signal Iduna TU S.A.
- Other services on demand.
